Flight Control

Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport - Control tower and service area
(Rights reserved by DGAC - Photo : Véronique Paul)
The work of the air traffic controller directs the development of a control tower to the smallest detail.
On an airport receiving only IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) flights, the work of the air traffic controller and design of the control tower are very specific. In instrument flight, the pilot is assisted by on-board equipment linked to ground installations. The different classes of air space are distinguished by the control exercised over them and the type of flight admitted.
