In less than a century, precise types of airports, in a wide variety of sites, have been developed to carry ever increasing number of passengers. Airports and runways must be built to allow larger and large planes to take off and land. France is in the forefront of technology in this area and the Airbase Engineeriing Agency (Service Technique des Bases Aériennes (STBA)) exports its know-how throughout the world.
